田馥甄, Hebe’s real name and also her stage name as solo artist has always been on the level of what I call Goddess.
From a creative perspective, she does very little wrong in my eyes, constantly expanding and growing out of her own comfort zone and interests, and winning over those who doubt her, or would fix her down because of her S.H.E affiliation.
I’ve been following S.H.E since the early 2002-2003 years, listening to their music and watching their shows as they grew into women, and as I grew into a woman myself.
The process of watching an artist grow into her craft, became a big part of me growing into my craft.
I have always been grateful that there were women that I could see, that I could like and aspire to, doing music and performing in the spotlight. I have not always enjoyed their collective sound, but I have always loved their collective presence.
When 田馥甄 first debuted on her own as a solo, my heart was won over completely.
The lyrics that move me again and again are lyrics where you can hear another person’s journey. Whether it be attached to techno, ballad, acoustic, funk, jazz or any other melodic sound, whether performed in rap, song, autocorrect or spoken.
If music is something you choose to soundtrack your footsteps, then these are the songs that stay with me.
田馥甄 is an artist that will walk with me.
I have come to an understanding that the music we choose helps us love ourselves.
I am thankful that all these songs I am sharing are songs that take care of me in different ways.
