林宥嘉 － 捨荒
A song about what songwriters and singers do.
Turning the garbage, the pain, the ugly things in their own stories and in other people’s stories into potential sites of beauty… that is very much a big part of the creation process. Often times, songs give new meaning or significance to pain that we feel is pointless, or situations we don’t see purpose in.
The intentional manipulation of a singer/song-writer, the artifice of aestheticized suffering, as a focal point of a song is really refreshing, since songs are always re-spun versions of other people’s pain.
The self-reflexivity in this song is a brilliant concept, and is also the inspirational concept for this blog.
To collect the words and thoughts of other people in this music industry, and reflect on how I re-spin them into my own works, my own way of thinking, and my own constructed aesthetic.
